INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
ONE-ON-ONE COLLEGE APPLICATION & ESSAY WRITING—50 min. $95
These Zoom meetings will happen 1-3 times per week as early as the summer after sophomore year ends. These meetings are highly individualized to the needs of your student. During these meetings, we build college lists, do research, dive deeply into your student’s characteristics and goals. During the writing process, we go through every step from pre-writing to drafting, editing, revising, and polishing. For visual arts students, we also plan and organize their portfolio, artist statements, and other required supplemental materials.
Zoom sessions are also paired with offline work that I provide in between sessions and while students are in school, such as essay editing and research.
ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING—50 min. $95
These Zoom meetings are for working on writing and literature with students grades 6-12. I provide support for current classes and assignments, as well as enrich their learning with engaging, practical curriculum to improve their skills and help them build confidence.
“Mrs. Shippee is an awesome college counselor - so great that I have referred her to five of my dear friends.” ~ Eve F., Parent

COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS
RISING JUNIORS SUMMER JUMPSTART WORKSHOP
The best time to begin the college application process in earnest is at the very end of sophomore year, as soon as they start summer. Without a doubt, students who start at this time have the easiest application journey and get the best results. This two-part workshop happens in June and August of their junior summer; each part is 3-4 hours long and sets them up with a clear understanding of what college is, how to research their schools, and what the application process will entail. By the time they start junior year, they will have completed the deep research necessary to choose the right fit schools and be prepared to write meaningful, eloquent essays with concrete information about their college choices.
JUNIOR YEAR MONTHLY COLLEGE APP WORKSHOP SERIES
These in-person monthly workshops held locally during the school year are designed for juniors to stay ahead of the application game. Each month, we make time to complete our research, finalize our school list, calendar important deadlines, while also tackling the UC and Common App essays. We also strategize for additional supplemental essays and work on the Activities descriptions. Using this dedicated time a couple of hours a month during this year keeps students on track for a less stressful application season. Virtual workshops can also be scheduled for groups of 4 or more.

CUSTOM COLLEGE SEARCH
-
LEVEL 1: SCHOOL PROFILES
Following a questionnaire and via Zoom meetings with you, I will research and prepare a spreadsheet including the facts & data (school profile) information for schools that you have expressed interest in and seem like they would be a good fit for your student. You will receive 20-25 categories of information per school. This spreadsheet is a basic starting point to help you choose which schools will be the best for your applications.
10-12 schools, starting at $750
-
LEVEL 2: DETAILS
After the Level 1 Search, or after you have provided your own basic level research, I can dive into the uniquely personalized search for the colleges, departments, majors, minors, interdisciplinary, combination, and design-your-own-degree options that are great matches for your student’s unique interests and goals. I will prepare a spreadsheet with the options available at each individual school.
10-12 schools, starting at $950
-
LEVEL 3: DEEP RESEARCH
Building on the Basic and Details spreadsheet, I go even deeper into the layers of research at each school to the level of degree requirements, pathways, courses, professors, facilities, and other “fine print” of what each school offers in the majors or areas for your student’s passions and interests. Many highly competitive schools ask “why our school,” and this level of research is essential in writing intelligent responses to these essay prompts.
10-12 schools, starting at $1250
“I loved how the numerous spreadsheets and group meetings helped me to create deadlines for my work. Having a set date for when things should get done was especially helpful for keeping me on task. This even allowed me to submit my essays weeks before every due date.”
~ Abby S., Student
“Working with Alice is an absolute pleasure. I’ve referred her to many friends and will continue to sing her praises. This is a stressful process and we couldn’t be happier. Our son loved working with her and has told our daughter she has to do it too! 😊”
~ Marilyn K., Parent
“Mrs. Shippee was most helpful in digging into the student's mind in order to pull out the true meaning of what they are writing about. Her questioning was really helpful in getting the ideas out on paper.”
~ Gunnar K., Student
