Every teacher has a niche, and mine is teenagers. I am truly inspired by their energy, their joie de vivre, & their hard work. I am excited to hear about their goals & to get to know them, so that I can help bring out their unique qualities in their writing & help them show universities who they are, how they think, & what they can accomplish & contribute to their college communities.

I look forward to working with you!

In my classroom at Beverly Hills High School pre-2006, when printing photos out was still a thing.

The root of the word education comes from the Latin word educare, meaning β€œto draw out.” My philosophy of education is based on this original meaning, and I regard my role as a teacher as one of drawing out from within students the passion, talent, skill, and experience that is already there, as well as building a bridge between new material to those inner qualities. Learning is an alchemy of interest and inquiry. Good teaching and demonstrated learning both make the invisible visible.

At my UCLA graduation in 1993, with my parents who instilled in my sister and me a great love for learning, the utmost respect for teachers, and a deep gratitude for all opportunities given and made. I am so proud to carry on the family legacy of being an educator.
